Bergby is a small community with around 1,700 residents, about 25 minutes from Gävle. The library is a modern and close meeting place in the community. Here, books, digital services, and people meet – from e-books, streaming, and databases to personal guidance and inspiration on-site. The library is also a self-service library, which gives residents good access even outside staffed hours.

The library is a natural part of everyday life in Bergby and is an integrated public and school library, where reading, learning, and culture connect children, youth, and adults. With programs and activities, we gather people around reading, learning, and common interests. As an employee with us, you are given great freedom to test ideas and meet visitors in new ways.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as a librarian, you will work with reading promotion initiatives and implement the library's program activities for both children and adults. You will collaborate with local schools and preschools, receive classes, and cooperate with both internal and external parties in the district.

With us, you work independently in your daily tasks, but you are never alone. With the help of digital tools and close dialogue, you collaborate closely with colleagues regardless of where you are located. In this role, you will work with one of our prioritized target groups - children and youth - and help develop the library's activities to strengthen their reading, learning, and participation. Your assignment particularly focuses on youth, where you contribute to promoting language development, sparking a love for reading, and creating opportunities for meaningful leisure activities. This involves collaboration with other actors in Gävle and the Bergby area, where you are the face of the organization and contribute to making the library a natural place for everyone in Bergby.

In your daily work, you will be responsible for common tasks at the library. The work focuses on the residents of Bergby and includes developing the activities through environmental analysis and trying new ideas. You will also staff other libraries within the unit. An important part is receiving and leading groups, which requires you to feel comfortable in that role.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in library and information science.
• Experience working in libraries and within the cultural sector.
• Experience in establishing contact and collaborating with children and youth, either in the workplace or through volunteer engagements.
• Experience working in digital library systems.
• A valid driver's license (B).

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience working in service or customer service.
• Experience leading groups and library-based program activities.
