Your Mission

We are now looking for a school librarian for Söderhamn Municipality.

Do you want to make a difference in students' learning and reading interest? Then you could be our next school librarian! With us, you will have the chance to work creatively with reading-promoting activities, support students' development, and be part of an engaged team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building relationships, collaborating with school staff, and inspiring students to read, write, and think critically.

In this role, you will be part of a team with three other school librarians. Together, you will work on the school library operations at eleven elementary schools based on an annual plan.

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date to be agreed upon.

The mission as a school librarian involves systematically making the school library services available to students and staff, as well as promoting students' reading and media and information literacy. You need to be able to take responsibility for your own work, be self-driven, and initiate and create good relationships that promote collaboration.

Your main tasks include:

• Making school library services available to students and staff.
• Promoting students' language, reading, and writing development.
• Creating and maintaining collaborations with colleagues and other professional groups.
• Contributing to the development of school libraries as part of the schools' educational activities, in accordance with the new legislation on staffed school libraries.

Within the framework of the mission, there will be great opportunities to be involved in the continued development of school library services as an integrated part of teaching and the schools' learning environments.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone who has a degree in Library and Information Science or another higher education qualification that the employer considers equivalent.

You have a pedagogical and relationship-building approach. It is an advantage if you have experience working with children and young people and have a good knowledge of children's and youth literature. You need to be able to see connections, have an overview, and be flexible and ready to adapt to new conditions. We place great value on personal qualities such as responsiveness, organizational skills, and the ability to inspire reading.

The position includes staffing at least two schools.
