About the Job

The tasks include daily care, feeding, and welfare of primarily horses, but also ruminants and pigs. The work also involves assisting teachers in education, examination, treatment, and research. Responsibilities may include transporting animals and contacting animal owners. Responsibility for equipment and ordering of consumables may occur. The work includes cleaning of premises and material care.

Working hours are during the day according to a schedule, including weekends. Work during inconvenient hours may occur.

Your Background

Education as an animal caretaker or animal keeper and practical experience in handling horses is a requirement. Extended qualifications as an animal caretaker are meritorious. Experience in laboratory animal work or veterinary hospitals is also meritorious, as well as experience with ruminants. A driver's license (B) is required. You express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and have computer skills. The ability to express oneself well in English is desirable. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and abilities such as teamwork, flexibility, self-motivation, and service orientation.

About Us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, internal medicine, and reproduction. Our activities span across all animal species.

At the SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of veterinary care.

Under one roof, we offer medical care for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, operationally adapted facilities, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS also includes an ambulatory unit that goes out to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.
