Librarian for the Medical Library in Region Västerbotten

Region Västerbotten is a university hospital region that works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equal welfare and for clinical research and innovation to be conducted and implemented in our operations.

The Office for Research, Education, and Innovation (FoUI) leads, initiates, and follows up the region's engagement in issues related to research, education, innovation, and knowledge management. The office consists of seven units. The mission of the office includes driving and participating in the region's development so that the region's goals within the office's areas of responsibility can be achieved.

The Unit for Education and Knowledge Development is an operation that works with quality development of lifelong learning conducted in healthcare for health and medical care students and employees. The unit leads, quality assures, and develops general, basic, and specialist training for doctors, practical training for psychologists, professional development for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, and professional development for nursing assistants, as well as workplace-based education (VFU) within the health and medical care sector. The unit includes the Region's Clinical Training Center (KTC) and the Medical Library operations. The unit's work is carried out in close collaboration with the northern healthcare region, Umeå University, municipalities, and other educational providers.

Our medical library operations are under development, and we are now looking for a librarian for the medical library in Region Västerbotten who wants to help develop the digital library operations with us! The placement is in Umeå. You will work digitally and region-wide together with two colleagues. Our mission is to support the region's employees in evidence-based practices in clinical operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Together with your colleagues, you will work with guidance in the digital library, assist with article orders and search assignments, provide supervision and training regarding our various electronic resources. As a librarian, you will also work with acquisitions and evaluation of resources. You will participate in various networks and be the contact person for the EIRA consortium. Here you have the chance to help start a digital initiative and develop it from the ground up.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has completed librarian training and preferably has a few years of experience as a medical librarian. It is advantageous if you have experience in teaching and have worked with administration, acquisition of e-resources databases, and knowledge support at a research library and have basic knowledge of open access and scientific publishing.

You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and English. You are proficient in the Office suite and enjoy learning new digital working methods.

You are an analytical problem solver who sees opportunities in the operations. You thrive in collaboration and have the ability to communicate pedagogically and clearly with people of different ages and backgrounds.
