Do you want to be part of a growing unit on an island that offers both opportunities and challenges?

We are looking for soldiers in many different areas. How about becoming a guard soldier where you work around the clock and then have a longer period off? Dive into communication systems so that the unit can communicate with each other during exercises and war? Become a driver on a mortar armored vehicle? Work for a year or two as an instructor in basic training before it’s time to attend officer training?

We have many positions to offer you if you have completed basic training and want to work in Gotland as a soldier.

We are looking for soldiers and team leaders in many parts of P 18; Professional informant, Instructor for conscripts in various areas, Command system soldiers, Guard soldiers, Infantry soldiers, Vehicle crews for several different vehicle systems, staff assistants, and more.

About the unit

The Gotland Regiment was re-established in 2018 to strengthen the Armed Forces' presence on this strategically important island. Since 2020, we have been training conscripts. Gradually, we are adding more and more capabilities. Today, we have around 400 employees and continue to grow every year. In 2025, approximately 290 conscripts will be enlisted. The regiment area is located at Tofta firing range, but placement may vary/increase.

Main responsibilities

Working as a soldier (GSS/K) means training, maintaining equipment, participating in exercises and real operations. Your employment may involve readiness that can last for several consecutive days or longer periods. The position requires both physical and mental performance capabilities, which is why training is part of your everyday life.

Qualifications

  • Completed military basic training with passing grades (At least JA-2-2)
  • Meets the Armed Forces' physical requirements (11:30 running 2 km and 175 points multitest)

Meritorious

  • Category B driver's license
  • Military vehicle driving license

Personal qualities

  • Good ability to handle both stressful situations and waiting
  • Unpretentious and enjoys exploring new solutions
  • Good ability to work in a team and independently
  • Takes responsibility for personal development and training

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Interviews and tests for conscripts at P 18 are ongoing. For those applying from another unit, tests will take place during week 621. Interviews and tests will be conducted in Gotland.

Employment form: GSS/K 6 years + possibility of extension. Total max 12 years.
Employment rate: Full-time. Travel in service occurs, mainly within Sweden. Since operations may take place outside regular working hours, working hours may be shifted to evenings/nights and weekends.
Work location: Visby/Tofta.
Start date: By agreement

Salary: Individual salary setting (The lowest base salary for soldiers and sailors is 26,000 SEK).

The Gotland Regiment was re-established on January 1, 2018, to strengthen the Armed Forces' presence on the strategically important island. Since 2020, conscripts have been trained again at P 18, and the unit will gradually be added more capabilities until 2030.
