Seasonal Park Worker / Landscape Gardener in Falun

The Environmental and Community Building Administration has over a hundred employees working with development and management both in the city and the countryside. The administration handles issues related to urban planning, construction, traffic, environment, operation/maintenance, nature, and business, and works towards a sustainable society.

The Traffic and Land Department is responsible for planting as well as the operation and maintenance of the municipality's parks, playgrounds, green areas, nature reserves, forests, and streets and traffic.

The goal of our operations is to create a good quality of life for citizens and visitors with beautiful, accessible, and pleasant environments that are constantly developing. In your work, you will help create Falun's green meeting places. Together, we create a more beautiful city both in summer and winter.

Job Responsibilities

As a seasonal park worker/landscape gardener, your tasks will include maintenance of flower beds and green areas, ongoing maintenance of grass areas, bushes, and planting areas, summer flowers, gravel and asphalt areas, as well as repair of park and playground equipment. Together with our work team and park technician, we work in the central parts of Falun.

We offer a varied job and would like you to contribute to the development of the operations together with us.

The work is carried out outdoors and takes place in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Education in gardening, landscaping, or agriculture at the high school level, or other relevant education combined with equivalent knowledge acquired through work experience. You have a genuine interest in park work and outdoor environments.
• Documented work experience from the contracting or green area sector such as park/green area maintenance, landscaping, lawn mowing in park or property environments, assembly of playground equipment, or other relevant experience.
• The work as a park worker requires good physical ability as it can be physically demanding at times. The work requires that you can deliver according to plan every day regardless of weather conditions.
• Driver's license for manual transmission.
• To understand work and safety instructions, it is important that you master the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Experience using a smartphone or tablet, for example for quality assurance and handling work orders.

In the role of Park Worker/Landscaper, you are our face to the public. This means that you should be a social and outgoing person who finds it easy to meet our citizens. We are looking for someone who is driven, self-sufficient, and has an easy time working with others, sometimes in a fast-paced environment. As a person, you are meticulous, responsible, and engaged, with the ability to see both the big picture and the details of the task.

Desirable Qualifications

• Documented experience operating tool carriers, agricultural machinery, or ride-on lawnmowers in a public park/property environment and performing daily maintenance/service of these.
• Experience working with maintenance and upkeep according to specified requirements in a functional/maintenance description.
• Certification/Professional certificate for construction machinery (loader, backhoe, excavator, etc.).
• Documented experience in repairing and assembling park, street, and playground equipment.
• Work on road 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3.
• Driver's license for chainsaw AB and brush cutter RA/RB.
• Scissor lift certification.
• B96/BE driver's license for manual transmission.
• Hot work certification.

Employment Conditions

Fixed-term employment full-time. Start date according to agreement and the employment lasts until at least 2026-10-31.
