About Wisby Swimming Society

Wisby Swimming Society (WSS) was founded in 1922 and works to ensure that everyone, through play, training, competition, and exercise, has the opportunity to participate in swimming sports and improve their swimming skills. In our activities, everyone should feel welcome and safe. Our values are based on KUL – Camaraderie, Development, and Joy.

Outdoor Pools

WSS operates the summer outdoor pools at Terra Nova (Terra Nova Square) and Melonen (Irisdalsgatan) on behalf of Gotlandshem. The pools are heated and staffed with lifeguards, and offer light refreshments for visitors.

Summer Swimming School

During the summer vacation, WSS offers a summer swimming school for children aged 5–12 years, with both beginner and advanced courses. The swimming school is conducted at Kokoloko, Melonenbadet, Terra Novabadet, and Solbergabadet.

Lifeguard, Outdoor Pools

The outdoor pools are open from June 16 to August 18. As a lifeguard, you will work alongside colleagues and be responsible for:

· Pool supervision and safety

· Comfort and service for visitors

· Kiosk sales

During certain scheduled shifts, opening or closing the pool is also included, which involves tasks such as cleaning, inventory of goods, and reconciliation of daily cash.

We are looking for someone who:

· Is service-oriented, responsible, and confident in their interactions

· Is positive and pleasant towards both children, adults, and colleagues

· Can work independently and take responsibility for safety

· Is a competent swimmer

Due to the sales aspect of the job, candidates must be at least 15 years old.

The association provides necessary training. The employment is temporary with scheduled shifts, including weekends. Pay is hourly according to the employment contract.

Lifeguard with Supervisory and Technical Responsibility, Outdoor Pools

In addition to regular lifeguards, we are also looking for supervisory lifeguards with special responsibility for the operation and quality of the outdoor pools.

In this role, you will combine lifeguard duties with responsibilities for:

· Supervision of technical equipment and machinery

· Conducting and documenting water tests and replenishing chemicals

· Supervising and supporting the lifeguard team during shifts

· Contacting responsible parties in case of operational disturbances or deviations

You contribute to ensuring that the operations run safely, efficiently, and according to current routines, and are an important link between lifeguards and the association.

We are looking for someone who:

· Due to the handling of chemicals in the job, candidates must be at least 18 years old.

· Is responsible, structured, and confident in a leadership role

· Has good collaboration skills and can make decisions when necessary

· Has an interest in technology, safety, and quality

· Is a competent swimmer and service-oriented

Previous experience in similar work is an advantage. The association provides an introduction and necessary training. The employment is temporary with scheduled shifts, including weekends. Pay is hourly according to the employment contract.

Swimming Instructor – Kokoloko, Melonenbadet, Terra Novabadet & Solbergabadet

As a swimming instructor, you will work alongside a colleague and be responsible for groups of about 12 participants. The teaching is adapted to the children's abilities and focuses on swimming, water familiarity, and safety.

We are looking for both:

· Head Coach, who plans, organizes, and leads the swimming lessons

· Assistant Coach, who supports the head coach in the pool and contributes to a safe, fun, and educational environment – both in and out of the water

Together, you will work according to clear routines to ensure high quality in each lesson. The tasks also include participant registration and distribution of diplomas.

We are looking for someone who:

· Has previous experience as a swimming instructor

· Has completed RF-SISU's basic training for coaches

· Is responsible and confident in their interactions

· Is a positive ambassador for the swimming school who is motivated by inspiring children to move and enjoy swimming.

The swimming school is held in daily morning and evening sessions and is suitable for those who want to combine work with leisure or have a supplementary summer job.

The employment is temporary with scheduled shifts, Monday to Friday. Pay is hourly according to the employment contract.
