About the position

We who work at the Blood Center contribute every day to sick and injured people feeling better. In Stockholm's healthcare, about 100 liters of blood are used per day. Receiving blood often makes the difference between life and death. Our fixed units (blood centers) are located at Skanstull, Sergel, and Odenplan. Our mobile units (blood buses/trailers) circulate throughout the Stockholm area from Södertälje to Norrtälje.

This advertisement concerns summer internships in the form of hourly employment at 100% (40 hours a week) to staff the regular employees' schedules during the holiday period. The basic requirement for employment is a service period of 6-8 weeks after an introduction that needs to start no later than week 24. Special qualifications are required to work at the blood center, which takes about two weeks of introduction to achieve and is valid for two years.

The work includes a good and professional approach to our donors throughout their visit. The work is based on our clear instructions, guidelines, and rules. Good support is always available from professional experienced colleagues, on-call doctors, and adapted easily accessible documents. Introduction for qualification to blood donation takes place over two weeks together with an experienced colleague who guides on-site.

A basic schedule includes shifts with both day and evening hours, and Saturdays may occur. You will have your primary placement at one of our units. We plan staffing together between our units, and work at all centers occurs as needed. This contributes to good staffing and the opportunity for experience exchange and promotes community.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • For both medical students and nursing students, at least completed term 4 is required.
  • For nursing assistants, a trained nursing assistant is required in the form of the upper secondary school's Health and Care program for 3 years (2500 points), the Health and Care program, Komvux, three terms (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. In the case of other equivalent education within municipal adult education or older nursing assistant training, an individual assessment will be made.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language
  • Good physical ability as the work periodically involves heavier tasks

Meritorious:

  • Previous experience of venipuncture (Training and practical exercise will be provided during your introduction).
