Härnösand Art Hall showcases several contemporary art exhibitions with professional artists each year. The art hall is a window to what is happening in today's art scene, both regionally and nationally. With the help of digital tools, such as films, the exhibitions are made accessible even for those who cannot see them in person.

The art hall is home to artistic and cultural events that touch on the art field, such as performances in dance and music, lectures, and artist talks. The art hall actively participates in the municipality's events in and around the square and offers guided public tours and activities for schools, families, and smaller groups.

The art hall is responsible for Härnösand municipality's purchases of art and is responsible for placing art in the municipality's premises. The art hall is also responsible for the Qvist Collection, a donation to the city of Härnösand from siblings Nils and Elna Qvist. The collection includes everything from renowned art to silver, porcelain, tin, textiles, and furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The art hall always has free admission.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for someone who wants to work extra as needed, both weekdays and weekends, and become part of our team. As a host, you represent the art hall and are the first to greet and meet visitors. Your tasks include helping to answer questions regarding the art hall's activities, the public art around the art hall, and the tourist information we offer via our Service Point. You will also provide guided tours based on our current exhibitions and the Qvist Collection.

The host oversees the art hall's public spaces and ensures that the exhibitions have the correct information and that the technology works. You will also be responsible for opening and closing the art hall, as well as handling phone calls, mail, and the shop.

Qualifications

You have ongoing or completed university education in an art/cultural area. You have a pronounced interest in culture in general and art in particular. You can express yourself well in spoken Swedish and English and are comfortable speaking in front of groups and conducting public tours. You are confident in handling the technology required for the art hall to be open, such as exhibition technology.

Meritorious

As we have many tourists during the summer, it is an advantage if you speak more languages than Swedish and English. Experience in jobs that require high customer service or experience in reception work, or at an art hall, museum, or similar. Knowledge in art, architecture, cultural studies, design, history. Active artist.
