Production Leader at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Mariestad

The Mariestad operational area includes the closed prison Johannesberg, the largest open prison in the country Rödjan, and the Mariestad Remand Center. Currently, Mariestad has about 360 employees distributed across various professional categories and competencies. Construction of a new closed prison is ongoing and is planned to be operational by 2027.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a production leader, you will have direct contact with our clients in the prison's production. In daily contact with the inmates, your work will contribute to the clients' learning but also to the clients reflecting on their situation.

We are currently looking for a production leader for the employment in the Mariestad operational area. The various employments within the operational area include agriculture, carpentry/wood industry, assembly/packaging, and welding workshop. This means that you should be prepared to substitute for each other or rotate within the entire workgroup within the operational area if/when the need arises.

The production leaders are responsible for introducing and guiding inmates and actively participating in various work tasks involved in the production. As a production leader, you will be responsible for the daily operations in our newly built production facilities.

The tasks in our ecological KRAV-certified agriculture involve guiding clients in the work with meat production, cultivation, feed production, milk production, farm and machinery management. It also includes guiding clients in firewood production and green space maintenance.

The tasks in the wood industry largely consist of guiding clients in wood industry and manufacturing of disposable pallets.

The tasks in assembly/packaging involve guiding clients in lighter assembly work.

The tasks in the welding workshop involve guiding clients in creating simpler forged products as well as repairs.

After introduction, you as a production leader will be responsible for the daily operations. You will plan, distribute work, and ensure that our deliveries occur on time. The work also includes some administrative tasks that are largely IT-based. As a production leader, you have the task of guiding and instructing. Daily routine tasks such as inspections and other security-related tasks are also included in the job responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires.

Requirements

• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Manual B driver's license

Meritorious

• Experience in agriculture, milk production, meat production
• Experience in assembly/packaging
• Certification and certificate for Hot Work
• Experience in leadership
• Certification AB chainsaw and brush cutter training
• Experience in machinery and vehicle maintenance
• Understanding of how public procurement and contracts affect production work
• Experience in KRAV-certified production
• Other language skills besides Swedish
• Forklift license
• Safety awareness both in terms of work environment and client safety
• Experience in correctional services
• Knowledge of treatment work and understanding of the significance and role of the work in the inmates' enforcement
