Welcome to Tallink Silja Line! Working on board involves varied tasks, responsibilities, collaboration, and development. We are now looking for a responsible and solution-oriented person for the role of 2nd Engineer on our Swedish-flagged vessel. As a 2nd Engineer, you will act as watch leader in accordance with the environmental, safety, and protection frameworks of the STCW convention. You will collaborate and report directly to the 1st Engineer/Technical Manager on board.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a valid license (at least class V) and relevant certificates/safety courses.
  • Is familiar with regulations regarding a safe environment and personal responsibility in the safety organization on board.
  • Has previous work experience in a leadership role and a good ability to lead a team.
  • Has the ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team.
  • Is responsible, engaged, and positive.
  • Is helpful, problem-solving, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Once on board, you will be part of the safety organization. It is important that you have good physical fitness as well as good knowledge of Swedish, which is the safety language on board, and good knowledge of English. To work on board, citizenship in an EU/EES country, a valid medical certificate for maritime service, as well as a passport and Seafarer's Book are required. As part of our recruitment process, we conduct background checks. Alcohol and drug testing before and during employment may occur. This is done in accordance with our safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment on board.

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a 2:3 agreement, where we apply a 6-month probationary period. Start date is April 21, with training planned beforehand, according to agreement. Salary according to collective agreement.
