Nurse at the Psychiatric Clinic, Ward 1

The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland with over 400 employees. We have three general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units. The Psychiatric Clinic works for equitable care for all and nursing based on research and clinical experience. The Psychiatric Clinic operates in a newly built facility where the care environment is characterized by the importance of the care environment in promoting health.

Ward 1 is a general psychiatric ward with 8 beds and approximately 20 full-time employees. Patients are treated for various acute psychiatric conditions such as suicidality, psychotic episodes, depression, and acute underweight due to self-starvation.

The ward has close collaboration with various outpatient clinics and treatment units. Patients are usually cared for according to HSL, but care under LPT is also part of the operations. We work based on a work schedule model called modified 3-3 model, which means you have a shortened weekly working time with maintained full-time salary. As a new employee in the region, you can join such a schedule model after 3 months.

We are now looking for a nurse for Ward 1 at the Psychiatric Clinic who wants to help develop psychiatric care for our patients. Working hours are scheduled for days and evenings according to a roster.

You will receive individual orientation based on your experience and competence, as well as a mentor.

Within the psychiatric clinic, you have great opportunities for further education and to specialize in psychiatry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better.

You guide and support patients in developing their own resources and managing the symptoms of the illness. You work in a team that, besides you, consists of the patient, nursing assistant, and doctor. Your work as a nurse with us includes, among other things, collaborating with your team colleagues to map and identify specific nursing needs for individual patients and based on that plan the nursing team's acute interventions and measures as well as evaluating these.

You will also be involved in designing, implementing, and evaluating specific nursing strategies and, in dialogue with doctors, developing tailored treatment plans, working motivationally with various types of educational strategies, and compiling and evaluating these interventions.

Your work includes medication management and coordination. Together with your colleagues, you are involved in the development work of the operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. You have an interest in psychiatric nursing work and want to help develop round-the-clock care. Experience in psychiatry is an advantage.

You should have good collaboration skills and the ability to make independent decisions. We also see that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, at least at level C1.
