Cook/Economy Assistant (100%)

Solvik Folk High School is located 15 km north of Skellefteå and has about 200 participants and around forty dedicated employees. We have teachers, support staff, administrative personnel, property managers, as well as restaurant and cleaning staff. Our boarding facility accommodates over 60 residents.

Solvik is a movement-affiliated folk high school that, based on Christian values and the government's mission, offers a good educational environment that stimulates individuals and groups to development, education, and learning.

About the position

We are looking for a full-time cook/economy assistant. The position involves working as a cook every other week and as an economy assistant every other week. You will be part of our kitchen team, which consists of three positions including the head chef.

The tasks include cooking for lunch and dinner buffets, salad buffets, handling special diets, dishwashing, and cleaning the kitchen, as well as self-control according to current routines. You are eager to try new working methods, products, and recipes to develop the operations.

Solvik's restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday to Friday for our boarding participants. We also serve lunch for external guests and prepare lunch for three nearby preschool departments. Additionally, we organize conferences and other events with catering. The position is mainly daytime, with only a few evenings or weekends for special events.

You have a genuine interest in cooking and ingredients. You are creative, meticulous, positive, and attentive, with the ambition to maintain a high level of service towards guests and colleagues. You advocate for order and cleanliness, work systematically, and see opportunities where there are challenges. Your creativity applies not only to the menu and food but can also contribute to developing the operations towards new goals.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a cook in a large kitchen
  • Knowledge of industry hygiene regulations
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations

Meritorious

  • Culinary education
  • Good knowledge of special diets

Employment conditions

  • Duration: Permanent employment, after 6 months of probation
  • Scope: Full-time, 100%
  • Employment form: Vacation service
  • Start date: June 2026 or by agreement
  • Salary: By agreement
