Social Pedagogue at Wisbygymnasiet

In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.

Wisbygymnasiet

Wisbygymnasiet has about 1700 students and approximately 185 employees, of which around 170 are teachers.

We offer 16 national programs, four introductory programs, and a nationally recruiting education. At Wisbygymnasiet, we collaborate and take joint responsibility to ensure that our students reach their graduation goals. We put the team before the individual, see opportunities for development, and speak well of each other. We create the teaching together, characterized by participation and variation, inspiring a desire to learn more.

Wisbygymnasiet's vision is:

  • We are at the forefront of meeting today's and tomorrow's needs in society
  • We have good health and feel good in our school environment
  • We are the place for both education and training

Your Responsibilities

In the role of social pedagogue, you will work to support students both inside and outside the classroom. You build trusting relationships with our students and, to some extent, with their guardians. Through a relationship-building and motivating approach, you stimulate students' development and contribute to creating good conditions for learning.

An important part of the assignment is to strengthen the school's values, safety, and equity. You do this through presence, dialogue, and various relationship-building activities, for example in the school's cafes and other common environments. You support and listen to the students and engage in continuous conversations that help develop their social skills, self-esteem, and sense of responsibility. You work both preventively and proactively to create a safe school environment where all students feel seen and included. The assignment also includes collaboration with external actors such as social services, treatment homes, police, and other relevant agencies.

The work takes place in close and continuous collaboration with the student health team (EHT), mentors, and school management, with a clear focus on the preventive and health-promoting mission of student health. You are an active and natural part of EHT's work and contribute your expertise to joint analyses of students' learning, attendance, and well-being. Together within EHT, you work to identify early signals, plan and follow up preventive measures, and develop structures and methods that strengthen students' health, safety, and study conditions at the individual, group, and organizational levels. The work aims to create sustainable solutions and a long-term student health structure that supports both the quality of teaching and students' well-being.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who has completed upper secondary education and has a post-secondary education as a social pedagogue or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.

You have experience and a good understanding of working in a multicultural environment. It is advantageous if you are familiar with the school's governing documents and have previous experience working in schools or other educational activities. You preferably have experience working with high school-aged students and a strong interest in working with young people in their school everyday life.

To thrive and succeed in the role, you need to be a secure, positive, and responsible person who easily creates and maintains good relationships. You are structured, can prioritize your tasks, and take independent responsibility for your workday. In the role, you will have many points of contact and be part of a team with several different professional categories working together for the students' goal fulfillment. Therefore, you have good collaboration skills and a clear understanding of the importance of cooperation, both internally within the school and externally with other actors.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
