National Cultural Heritage Specialist Wanted

Do you want to contribute to the preservation and use of cultural heritage in forest landscapes? The Swedish Forest Agency's Forest Unit is looking for a national cultural heritage specialist responsible for developing the agency's work with cultural heritage in forest landscapes.

The Forest Unit operates nationally and is tasked with providing specialist support in various subject areas. Support is provided through training, knowledge compilations, and participation as a specialist in investigations and projects.

A large part of the work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues at districts and units, as well as in cooperation with other authorities and organizations in the field. The Forest Unit also collaborates with research institutions to help develop and utilize new knowledge. Currently, the Forest Unit has 26 employees at 12 different locations across the country.

The work on forest cultural heritage is becoming increasingly integrated into the agency's operations, especially at the national level. This increased integration raises the need for knowledge support and skills development within cultural heritage work in the agency's overall operations, including at the regional and district levels. There is also a need to increase knowledge about cultural heritage throughout the forestry sector, for example, to enhance consideration of cultural heritage in forestry measures and to develop the use of the various values of cultural heritage.

Job Content

You will work at both the strategic national level and more operational regional and local levels. As a specialist, you are expected to provide knowledge support in the field of cultural heritage both internally within the agency and externally within the forestry sector, including other relevant actors in the forest landscape.

You will play an important role in developing activities, steering instruments, information, monitoring systems, and the agency's cultural heritage work itself.

You will work closely with the unit's cultural heritage specialist and other subject specialists in areas such as climate, nature conservation, forest management, and the social values of forests.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in archaeology, cultural heritage management, cultural geography, or equivalent higher education with a focus on forest cultural heritage. Experience in cultural heritage work at the Swedish Forest Agency or county administrative boards, the Swedish National Heritage Board, central museums, county museums, or cultural heritage consulting activities, including archaeological surveys, is required.

Experience in cultural heritage work within the primary industries and regional development is an advantage. Particularly advantageous is experience in working with cultural heritage in forest landscapes and cultural heritage education, as well as using and developing cultural heritage in collaboration with other actors.

Conditions

Placement at one of the Swedish Forest Agency's offices in Sweden. The placement location will be determined during the recruitment process. A valid driver's license (B) is required. We welcome your application by January 25th!
