We are looking for an Assistive Technology Technician, do you want to be part of our team?
Your role with us
The role of the assistive technology technician involves designing and developing customized assistive devices (such as wheelchairs, mobile hygiene chairs, walkers, etc.) from concept to finished solution, as well as ongoing maintenance. The work is often based on a standard assistive device that is customized according to the user's individual needs.
During and after production, the assistive technology technician participates in the testing together with other professionals such as assistive technology consultants and prescribers to ensure that the solution works optimally for the user.
The customization takes place in a well-equipped workshop with various types of machines including milling machines, lathes, TIG and MIG welding equipment, sewing machines, and a 3D printer that has recently started to be used.
The tasks also include technical documentation, registration in the operational system, and technical follow-ups, both ongoing and as needed, either at HÖS or in the user's home environment.
All manufacturing and customization is done in accordance with the applicable medical device regulation (MDR), which means that quality, safety, and traceability are always central parts of the work.
We work process-oriented, and your role will involve a responsibility to follow our processes. The work also includes meeting set operational goals, working according to established routines and agreements, being meticulous, and driving development forward.
The team currently consists of four assistive technology technicians. The group is characterized by a supportive culture where colleagues work closely together, share knowledge, assist other professionals, and collaborate to find the best solutions - always with the user in focus. With us, you work Monday to Friday with flexible working hours.
Who are we looking for?
You who are applying have at least 2-3 years of high school education with a technical focus or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent. If you have training as an assistive technology technician, it is an advantage. To work with customized medical technology products, you need to have a good technical and mechanical understanding as well as a high awareness of safety, quality, and traceability.
Practical experience of working with various materials and processing techniques such as welding, turning, milling, and sewing is seen as an advantage. Understanding gained through experience with medical technology products is desirable, as well as knowledge of the requirements set out in the EU's medical device regulation (MDR) for customized products.
The role requires you to carry out documentation according to applicable regulations, both reporting and information gathering in our operational system, therefore computer skills are a requirement and experience working in operational systems is an advantage. Additionally, you need to be proficient in the Swedish language in both speech and writing. The position also requires travel from the workplace to locations in our customer municipalities, so you need to have a B driver's license for manual transmission.
In the role of assistive technology technician, it is important to be creative and able to think outside the box to find effective solutions. You should be a problem solver and have the ability to be responsive to the users' needs. It is also valuable to have a willingness to develop, acquire new knowledge, and see challenges as opportunities. Occasionally, the workload may be higher, so you need to be stress-resistant. You who are applying have a professional demeanor. As a person, you are positive, engaged, meticulous, and responsible.
