2nd Engineer to Destination Gotland

As a 2nd Engineer at Destination Gotland, you will be an important part of the engine department's team, contributing to safe, efficient, and secure operations on board. Your work includes monitoring the operation and maintenance of the vessel's machinery, automation, and power supply, as well as actively participating in repair and maintenance work. In the vessel's safety organization, you will be involved in the ship's fire safety and hold a supervisory position.

To succeed in this role, you need to have good leadership skills and communication abilities. You work in a structured and independent manner with a strong focus on safety, while also being open to challenges and able to contribute to the team. The role sometimes involves a fast pace and situations that require quick decisions, and you handle this with calmness and professionalism.

Application

Employment Type

The positions are temporary contracts starting in early 2026 and extending to the autumn of 2026, with good opportunities for extension.

At Destination Gotland, we are responsible for one of Sweden's most important routes – the sea route between Gotland and the mainland. Our fast ferries create opportunities for both passengers and freight traffic to travel efficiently between Gotland and the mainland, on the routes Visby – Nynäshamn or Visby – Oskarshamn.

We have operated the Gotland traffic since 1998 and are proud of the trust. Formally, the assignment is from the Transport Administration, but in many ways, the assignment is also from the Gotland community. We see it as our task to contribute to the development of Gotland by always leading the way and creating opportunities for everyone who wants to travel to and from our island.
