Kriminalvården is hiring a nurse

Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Mariestad area includes the closed prison Johannesberg, the largest open prison in the country Rödjan, and the Detention Center in Mariestad. Currently, Mariestad has about 360 employees distributed across various professional categories and competencies. Construction has recently begun on a new closed prison that is planned to be operational by 2027.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Kriminalvården provides some open healthcare services, which means that all prisons and detention centers have healthcare clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, the clinics also have general practitioners and psychiatrists. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also determine which applicants should see a doctor. This means you will work with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for inmates, assist during medical appointments, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Medication management is done in Pascal, and documentation is done in PMO patient data journal.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• Licensed nurse
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

Meritorious:

• A relevant specialization or further education for the employer, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills
