Our Operations
If you are interested in working with elderly people, caregiving, and enjoy the challenge of a variety of different tasks, you will thrive with us in Geriatrics. In geriatrics, we care for older and frail patients who have suddenly or gradually experienced a deterioration in their health condition. Most patients in geriatrics have complex care needs that require a holistic perspective in caregiving. With us, you will experience a breadth that includes everything from acute care to end-of-life care.
All job roles within geriatrics have one thing in common: it is meaningful, exciting, and developing to work in the area of geriatrics. Teamwork is central to us, both the collaboration of the multiprofessional team and the patient's participation, which are important parts of caregiving. As a nursing assistant, you constantly collaborate with others and thereby gain broad knowledge in various areas and a holistic view of the patient with different types of needs.
The team consists of you as a nursing assistant and nurse, doctor, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and if necessary, pharmacist, social worker, dietitian, and speech therapist.
We are looking for you as a Nursing Assistant/Caregiver
We are looking for you as a nursing assistant/caregiver who wishes to work with Geriatric acute/medical care during the summer of 2026.
Your Mission
The work of the nursing assistant primarily involves working closely with the patient. As a nursing assistant, you should be able to contribute to meeting the patient's individual care needs. The nursing assistant helps, among other things, patients with personal hygiene and dressing and undressing, and in geriatrics, this is done through a rehabilitative approach. This means that the patient should maintain and do what they can themselves and/or train to regain their abilities they had before the healthcare incident. You are responsible, together with the nurse, for providing safe patient care by assessing risks for pressure sores, falls, malnutrition, etc. Together with the team, you implement measures and evaluate them to minimize the risk of care injuries occurring.
In geriatrics, you as a nursing assistant gain a breadth of knowledge, as our patients often have complex care needs. You combine caregiving with performing other tasks according to the job description, such as documenting in the journal system, NEWS checks, venipuncture, catheter management and insertion, wound dressing, and connecting feeding tubes, etc.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant, nursing student from term 3, or medical student from term 6. You have good knowledge and skills in the care profession. You also have good computer skills, and it is an advantage if you know the journal system Cosmic.
Your Competence
The variation in work means that you should be flexible, responsible, and able to adapt to acute situations, as well as be ready to step in where needed. Since the work is often physically demanding, it is a requirement that you have good physical fitness. You enjoy working with elderly people, have a good attitude, and possess good collaboration skills. You are also an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good work environment. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.
We Offer
With us, it is important to have a tailored introduction based on previous experience. We offer you an introduction with an experienced nursing assistant and an introductory day at the Clinical Training Center (KTC), where you will practice venipuncture, catheter insertion, feeding tube connection, transfer techniques, and CPR.
We can offer you a summer temporary position/hourly employment between weeks 24-34, with the possibility of extension or hourly employment. We would like you to work all weeks or in period 1 weeks (24-) 25-29 or period 2 weeks 29-33 (-34).
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
