Our Operations

The Nephrology section is part of the field of specialized medicine, dermatology, and rheumatology at Uppsala University Hospital. The section consists of a care ward, a nephrology outpatient clinic, and two dialysis clinics. We care for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease both as inpatients in our care ward and in outpatient care at the nephrology clinic.

In the dialysis units, we treat nearly 100 patients with hemodialysis, and we also perform plasmapheresis. We have about 35 patients on peritoneal dialysis. Investigating patients prior to kidney transplantation and following up on kidney transplant recipients is an important part of our operations. The management of kidney transplant patients is done in close collaboration with the transplant surgeon. Furthermore, we also treat children with dialysis and collaborate with pediatric nephrologists.

Alongside kidney care at the regional and county levels, research and teaching medical students is an important mission for the section.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed physician and a specialist in nephrology with an interest in plasmapheresis treatment. You have an interest in supervision, education, and pedagogical development work with experience in the role of study director and responsibility for the training process of residents. You have a strong motivation to drive research and participate in academic development.

As a person, you are engaged and present in the moment. You thrive in a role that combines clinical responsibility, pedagogical work, and development. You are clear in your communication, have an easy time collaborating, and work with sensitivity with both patients and colleagues across all professional categories.
