Our Operations
The Nephrology Section is part of the field of specialized medicine, dermatology, and rheumatology at Uppsala University Hospital. The section consists of a care ward, a nephrology clinic, and two dialysis clinics. We take care of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease both as inpatients in our care ward and in outpatient care at the nephrology clinic.
In the dialysis units, we treat nearly 100 patients with hemodialysis, and plasma exchange is also performed here. We also have about 35 patients on peritoneal dialysis. Investigating patients prior to kidney transplantation and following up on kidney transplant recipients is an important part of our operations. The management of kidney transplant recipients is done in close collaboration with the transplant surgeon. Furthermore, we also treat children with dialysis and collaborate with pediatric nephrology.
In addition to kidney care at the county and regional level, research and teaching medical students is an important mission for the section.
Your Qualifications
You are a licensed physician and a specialist in nephrology with an interest and experience in inflammatory kidney diseases and IgA nephropathy. You have clearly demonstrated commitment to the development of outpatient services, including taking a leading role in the team. You have shown commitment to teaching colleagues and medical students. Experience in conducting research, particularly focusing on glomerulonephritis, is an asset.
Your Competence
As a person, you are engaged and present in the moment. You thrive in a leadership role and want to take responsibility for the clinical work of the team. You communicate clearly, collaborate easily, and work sensitively with both patients and colleagues across all professional categories. When hiring, we place great importance on personal suitability.
We Offer
We offer a permanent full-time position, with a start date according to agreement. The position includes participation in on-call duties and kidney preparedness.
With proximity to the university, the opportunity opens for you to participate in research and development. Here, you will also have the opportunity to develop through stimulating meetings with colleagues and patients, as well as through mentoring medical students. Together, we create a challenging and developing workplace where freedom under responsibility is a natural part.
