Do you want to help create great days for the residents of Karlstad? We are now looking for an event consultant for the Culture and Leisure Administration with a focus on sports and leisure.

As an event consultant, your main task is to be a guide for a successful event or arrangement in the municipality of Karlstad. You will work both to support other organizers, such as sports clubs, and to some extent in a project management role to carry out events where the municipality is the main or partial responsible party. In the role of event consultant, you ensure that the experience is as good as the visitors/audience hoped for, encouraging them to return.

The position is a temporary contract until the end of August 2026.

Responsibilities

In the role of event consultant, you provide advice and information on which administrations and authorities the organizer should contact, as well as everything else that needs to be planned and arranged for a larger or smaller event within the municipality. You handle environmental and safety issues, and through your contribution, the implementation of sustainable events is facilitated. For events carried out by the municipality, you are the spider in the web, ensuring that everything works according to plan with both budget and overall responsibility.

You are the event contact for the sports community and work proactively to create even better conditions for the sports community to carry out events such as sports competitions.

You will be involved in the work with the Swedish Championships in athletics, the Swedish Championships in orienteering, and several other smaller and larger sports events. You will also work with specific cultural events that the Culture and Leisure Administration organizes.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of event consultant, you need to have professional experience from sports, community organizations, and events, or alternatively a post-secondary education in a relevant field such as sports management, project management, or similar. Perhaps you even have several years of work experience in project management or similar and are used to driving, leading, and implementing larger events and arrangements.

To thrive in the role, you need to be social, creative, and enjoy working with people. You also need to be driven, structured, and have a sense for planning. You are practically oriented and have the ability to see the big picture. Your flexibility is a must, and we believe you are skilled at building networks and creating good relationships. You are motivated by working in project form and creating conditions for continuous improvement through dialogue. At the same time, you can work independently and make your own decisions. We place great importance on your personal qualities, where good service orientation and strong commitment are of great significance.

The role involves varying working hours, including evening and weekend work.

A valid driver's license (B) is required.
