Engineer in Cable Projects

Svenska kraftnät is one of the most important players in the transition to sustainable energy. At our division Network, you will help build and maintain the transmission grid - a crucial part of Sweden's electrification. To succeed in our socially important mission, we need to build 300 kilometers of lines and commission 20 stations each year. Together, we create a stable and sustainable energy infrastructure for the future.

About the position

As an engineer in cable projects at the Cable Technology unit, you contribute to the technical design and installation solutions for our power cables. These are installed in the ground, at sea, or in tunnels and consist of both HVAC and HVDC connections.

You will participate in ongoing investment projects involving cable laying in the ground, tunnel, or sea. Your tasks include:

• Developing technical specifications for cable installations and tender documents.
• Providing support during the permitting process and design phase.
• Participating in bid evaluations and negotiations.
• Attending project meetings and participating in installation, testing, and inspections.

Furthermore, you will provide support in cable technical matters and review documentation. You will participate in our internal work and contribute to the development of technical guidelines and other governing documents, as well as provide technical support in management issues.

In this role, you will work both strategically and long-term on the expansion of our cable projects. You will have excellent opportunities for personal development and the chance to create many contacts both internally in the organization and externally. For example, you may have the opportunity to participate in international technical working groups such as Cigré or collaborate with other TSOs and network owners.

Our cable projects are characterized by being both challenging and complex, and you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced colleagues. The growing Cable Technology unit consists of about 20 employees who work and contribute to project activities during construction and in management operations.

About you

Requirements:

Since the role involves many points of contact, we are looking for someone who collaborates well with others. Additionally, you have an engineering degree or extensive professional experience in the field that Svenska kraftnät considers equivalent.

You also have:

• Several years of practical work experience in large infrastructure projects in relevant areas, such as roads, railways, water supply, power cables, oil/gas, or equivalent as assessed by the authority. Alternatively, theoretical knowledge in one of the above areas. Preferably, you possess both theoretical and practical experience in the mentioned areas.
• Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
• A valid driver's license (B).

We consider it advantageous if you have:

• A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Technical Physics.
• A PhD in electrical engineering, measurement technology, high voltage technology, or another relevant area for the unit.
• Experience in HVAC and/or HVDC cables from 130 kV and above.
• Experience in cable system design and cable installation.
• Experience with norms, standards, and recommendations regarding HVAC and HVDC cables from 130 kV and above.
• Experience in cable projects related to HVAC and/or HVDC cables from 130 kV and above.
• Experience with cable monitoring systems such as DTS and DAS.
• Experience in HSE work related to cable manufacturing/cable installation.

• The position is located in Stockholm/Sundbyberg, Gothenburg, Sundsvall, Luleå, Sollefteå, or Västerås.
• Opportunity for remote work up to 50% #LI-hybrid.
• Travel to your cable projects is expected in this position.
