Job Responsibilities

The Swedish electricity grid is undergoing a rapid transformation, driven by the integration of distributed energy resources (DER), electrification of transport and buildings, and increasing operational uncertainty.

To support efficient and reliable grid operation, distribution system operators (DSOs) need advanced digital tools that can capture the dynamic behavior of real grids, assess grid conditions in near real-time, and evaluate the effects of new technologies.

This project aims to develop a high-quality digital twin of a distribution network, combining physics-based modeling, data analysis, and simulation techniques. The digital twin will integrate real operational data from low-voltage and medium-voltage networks, enabling improved situational awareness, flexibility assessment, and planning support. The project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency in collaboration with E.ON.

Qualifications

Requirements

PhD degree or foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a PhD.
Research expertise in modeling, identification, simulation, and optimization of distribution networks.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, as required in daily work.
Good programming skills.

Meritorious

Strong expertise in at least one of the following areas: digitization of power systems/deep reinforcement learning, or optimization and energy management of power systems, or digital twin/real-time simulation.
Experience in developing digital platforms is an advantage.
Ability to collaborate.
Independence.

About the Employment
