Overall goalThe museum has an active role in promoting handicrafts and handicraft activities throughout the county. The handicraft activities should promote interest in handicrafts and provide opportunities to craft across the county, as well as promote sustainable resource use through handicrafts. The handicraft activities should strengthen professional and active crafters in the county. Annual goal: Craft is available in the region. Preservation and development of the intangible cultural heritage of handicrafts. Courses, workshops, and meeting places for handicrafts are arranged throughout the county. Continued focus on basketry courses with course time also allocated for material collection. Continued deepening in mushroom dyeing, to ensure the transfer of instructors' knowledge. Courses are arranged to create depth in handicrafts by offering several courses in the same subject with gradual deepening for the same participants. E.g., carving course over four weekends spread across two semesters. Weaving projects with deepening are planned. Major handicraft events, A Day About WEAVING (Härnösand in March) and

Handicraft workshop at Urkult (Näsåker in August)

are arranged to reach and inspire new participants

and provide a meeting place for already practicing crafters in the county. Cultural plan goals/Assignment directive: All interested in the region, both adults and children, should have the opportunity to craft. The knowledge of the handicraft area is considered relevant to contemporary everyday life.

Annual goal: Connect handicrafts and health with new target groups and new contexts for handicrafts. Promote collaborations with civil society in all municipalities of the county. Open crafting evenings are arranged in Fränsta, Härnösand, and Kovland.

Annual goal: More motivated, competent active craft instructors for children. Craft instructor training of 6 full days and 2 digital theory sessions.

(Conducted every other year, 2025, 2027…). Norrland meetings with training and networking for active craft instructors. The hosting alternates between the northern counties.

Annual goal: Strengthened entrepreneurship among crafters in the region. Arrange/develop the annual Craft Round in the region. Craft on the map
