Bilingual News Reporter – Sveriges Radio Finska

Sveriges Radio's mission is to broadcast radio in the public service, and we have 7.4 million listeners each week. More than half of the population engages with our content in some form every day. Whether through live linear radio or on-demand, via FM, on our own digital platforms, or through other providers. We offer credible knowledge, in-depth reporting, companionship, and entertainment. Working at Sveriges Radio means that you, regardless of your role, are a valuable part of an important mission.

About Sveriges Radio Finska

Sveriges Radio Finska produces news and programs for individuals connected to and interested in the Swedish-Finnish and Finnish culture in Sweden. The pace and format of our news vary: we produce quick news and live broadcasts, but also our own investigations, in-depth stories, and narrative audio. As a reporter with us, you will work with sound in focus from idea to publication.

Always in Finnish – sometimes in Swedish

You should have a good ability to communicate in Finnish and Swedish, both orally and in writing. The majority of our content is in Finnish, but you need to be comfortable speaking, interviewing, and writing in both languages.

About the position and responsibilities

  • You will research and develop your own news angles, finding voices and stories we haven't heard before.
  • You will broadcast news.
  • You will interview decision-makers and affected individuals, making complex issues understandable.
  • You will publish on our digital platforms and social media.
  • You will collaborate closely with colleagues but also work independently from idea to finished piece.

The position as a reporter at Sveriges Radio Finska is a program employment at 100% from March 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension. Sveriges Radio Finska is a national editorial office, and the location for the employment is in one of Sveriges Radio's radio houses in the country.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Finds voices and stories we haven't heard before.
  • Can simplify the complex and make news understandable.
  • Enjoys covering news events and broadcasting live.
  • Is both independent and a skilled team player.
  • Has an easy time making contacts and building trust.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments as well as in-depth reporting.

You need to have:

  • Journalism education or equivalent experience.
  • Good ability to communicate in Finnish and Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • A broad interest in society, with a focus on minority issues, Finland, and Nordic cooperation.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in broadcasting/radio, live broadcasting, or podcast production.
  • Experience in digital publishing and social media (e.g., editing, text, publishing tools).
  • Experience in independent news work: identifying, verifying, driving, and publishing your own scoops and reports.
