About Us
Library Development Blekinge Kronoberg is the regional library operation with the mission to drive and support development work together with public libraries in the two counties.
We are six development officers and one department manager, and we are now looking for a substitute for one of our employees who will be on parental leave. We have offices in Växjö and Karlskrona, and the substitute position is therefore advertised in both Blekinge and Kronoberg. Region Blekinge is the administrative principal for the operation.

About the Job
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the library sector in close collaboration with public libraries in the regions. The work is based on the regional library plan and the regional cultural plans and involves supporting development through further education, guidance, environmental monitoring, and joint initiatives.
Together with your colleagues, you will drive projects and processes, build relationships, and create forums for experience exchange and learning. For this substitute position, we are looking for someone with an interest in issues related to accessibility, national minorities, and people with a mother tongue other than Swedish. Other areas may include reading promotion and digital development. The work requires good collaboration skills combined with independence and initiative.
Depending on what suits you best, you will have your workplace at one of the offices - Växjö or Karlskrona - but you will also visit municipal library operations in both counties. There is also some opportunity for remote work. Please indicate your preferred location in your application.
The assignment is a parental leave substitute starting on 2026-04-06 or by agreement. The substitute position extends until 2027-02-28, with a possible extension.
About You
You should have a relevant university degree in library science or related fields that the employer considers equivalent. You have good digital competence and are used to working in various digital environments. You have experience with a guiding working method and are comfortable inspiring and supporting others in their development.
You communicate a lot with different target groups and in various contexts - therefore, you need to express yourself well in both speech and writing. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively and are self-driven and service-oriented while maintaining focus on the goal.
A driver's license is required as the position involves travel primarily in Blekinge and Kronoberg.
Work experience from the library or cultural sector is valuable, but it is not a requirement to have worked as a librarian.
Also meritorious are:
- Experience in conducting training, presentations, or workshops.
- Experience in project management or leading processes with a focus on development.
- Previous work in a consultative or strategic role.
- Knowledge of participation and democracy issues.
- Cultural competence and a good ability to meet people with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a crisis preparedness position. Some positions in Region Blekinge are security classified, where the employee must undergo a security review interview and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
