About Vitlycke Museum

Vitlycke Museum is a knowledge and experience center for the World Heritage Site of Tanum's rock carvings and is located near Tanumshede.

The museum is an international destination and operates both outdoors at the World Heritage's rock carving areas, in the Bronze Age farm, and inside the building. Vitlycke Museum will be seasonally open from April 1 to October 2025. Our mission includes working with information, programs, tours, and knowledge development based on the World Heritage Convention and the rock carvings.

Our program activities aim to make it easy to get to know and learn more about the rock carvings and increase accessibility to the World Heritage Site, thus serving as a visitor portal for the World Heritage. The starting point is the Bronze Age and the rock carving images, but it spans over an 8,000-year-long epoch of human presence in the World Heritage area. We strive for authenticity and to create a sense of community in our operations, a vibrant cultural environment, and actively work to develop our core knowledge area in the coming period.

Job Responsibilities

As a custodian, you are an important part of the museum's operations and contribute to the overall experience of visitors. You will be part of a team that ensures a beautiful, pleasant, and functional environment inside and outside the museum. Your main tasks include maintaining green areas, parking, roads, and paths adjacent to the museum, keeping the premises clean, and performing maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment. The work includes both minor and major tasks that arise as needed, both planned and urgent interventions. Contact with other organizations, suppliers, and customers may occur. Parts of the job are physically demanding. The position will involve working evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Chainsaw license (RA, RB*)
• Driving license B
• General machinery experience (cultivator, leaf blower, etc.)
• Documented experience of good service-oriented interaction

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in and knowledge of ancient history and cultural history.
• Experience with tractors and ATVs
• Experience in contracting, carpentry/construction, forestry, gardening, or previous custodian positions

We are looking for someone who is responsible, self-driven, and good at taking initiative. We also value that you are accustomed to providing good service to visitors and guests and that you have well-developed collaboration skills. You thrive in a fast-paced environment with varied tasks. You are flexible and prepared to change tasks as spontaneous needs arise. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Other

Before the season starts, an introductory training will take place. The position includes weekend work.
