Fempowerment, the support and women’s shelter in Stockholm, is looking for a multilingual social worker for the position of Volunteer and Support Coordinator. We are now seeking a driven team member who wants to contribute their knowledge and experience to strengthen our work against violence in close relationships, and who wants to help develop our work on violence in young people's close relationships and support for LGBTQI individuals affected by violence. Join us in the shelter movement's work for an equal and just society free from violence!
About Fempowerment
Fempowerment is a non-profit organization that offers support, assistance, and legal advice in various languages to women, girls, and transgender individuals affected by violence, with a particular focus on those of non-Nordic origin. Support is provided in various languages by employees and support volunteers via a support phone line, emergency email, support chat, conversation groups, and in our counseling reception. We also work preventively and knowledge-enhancing through lectures and workshops.
About the position
We are looking for a multilingual social worker who wants to coordinate Fempowerment's support and volunteer activities, as well as support and empower those affected by violence through psychosocial support conversations.
In the role of Volunteer and Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for the recruitment and coordination of support volunteers, staffing our support phone line and chat, as well as conducting your own supportive conversations with applicants for support in our counseling reception. You will also work on preventive measures in the form of lectures, among other things.
Since Fempowerment is a smaller non-profit organization, we prefer that you are independent, proactive, flexible, and have experience in project management. With us, you will have the opportunity to help develop Fempowerment's work with women, girls, and transgender individuals affected by violence.
Part of the working hours is scheduled for evenings and weekends for internal training of new volunteers, certain external lectures, and conversation groups. The position is located in Globen, Stockholm, where Fempowerment has its office, and there is an opportunity for some remote work.
Responsibilities
- Lead, organize, and distribute work in Fempowerment's support activities and resources
- Coordinate and mentor support volunteers in the volunteer program
- Staff the organization's support phone line, support chat, and lead conversation groups for those affected by violence together with Fempowerment's employees
- Provide support in the form of processing and motivational support conversations for women, girls, and non-binary individuals, and to some extent legal advice.
- Ensure quality and develop Fempowerment's support and volunteer activities.
- Give lectures on issues such as violence in close relationships, the various mechanisms and expressions of violence, and how to respond to those affected by violence.
- Be an active part of the collective work at Fempowerment, including volunteer recruitment, organizational development, and communication.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is independent, driven, and has an easy time building trust and relationships with others. As a person, you are secure and stable, and have a good ability to lead and collaborate with others. You are used to working towards goals and have a strong commitment to developing and improving the organization.
- Social work degree or other post-secondary education that the employer considers equivalent.
- Experience working in a women's shelter or other social services.
- Training in and/or experience with supportive conversations.
- Knowledge of violence in close relationships and men's violence against women, as well as good knowledge of gender, norms, and intersectionality.
- Experience in network building and giving presentations.
- Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English, and proficiency in a third non-Nordic language.
Desirable
- Previous experience working with responding to those affected by violence.
- Experience in lecturing and process facilitation.
- LGBTQ competence.
- Experience from engagement in non-profit activities, and/or experience in leading and engaging volunteers.
Scope of the position
The position is a 2-year fixed-term full-time employment. The employment extends from January 1, 2026, to December 2027, with the possibility of extension and permanent employment in 2028.
We offer a workplace with engaged colleagues, meaningful tasks, and a working time of 37.5 hours per week.
The workplace is covered by the collective agreement Employees in the civil society, and offers wellness benefits.
Application
Please send your CV and cover letter to [email protected]. Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
The application deadline is Sunday, January 11, but the position may be filled earlier – so do not wait to send in your application.
