Staff Assistant and Instructor for the Swedish Armed Forces

About the Unit
The Södermanland Group (SLG) is a military region group responsible for planning and conducting training and education for a home guard battalion (27.hvbat - Södermanland's Home Guard Battalion). The battalion consists of a battalion staff, command platoon, two operational companies, a security company, a boat platoon, and an air group.
SLG is part of the Central Military Region (MR M) and is located in Strängnäs.
Main Responsibilities
In the role of staff assistant and instructor, you will be involved in the leadership of the military region group's work with planning, execution, and follow-up of exercise and training activities as well as routine tasks. This is done in close collaboration with other personnel within the unit and MR M. Responsibilities include:
- Support the MR group leadership with planning, execution, and follow-up of the group's activities, material orders, and handling of these in both daily service and during exercises.
- Support the MR group leadership with administrative measures in the Swedish Armed Forces' commonly used IT support systems.
- Support the IT/SB officer in maintaining the MR group's command capability.
- Manage the MR group's expedition.
- Support the Training Section's activities through training of staff and communication personnel.
- Handle the leadership's vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Basic Military Training/Conscription or equivalent.
- Approved high school diploma.
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish.
- Driving license B.
- Good computer skills.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is solution-oriented, responsible, and has a good ability to switch between details and a holistic perspective. You should be used to working independently as well as in a team. The role of staff assistant/instructor involves a lot of collaboration with different units and individuals, therefore we value that you are communicative.
You need to be structured, meticulous, and able to plan and prioritize your work effectively, even in situations with many tasks or when conditions change.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Meritorious
- Previous employment as GSS.
- Work experience in an administrative position.
- Good knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' commonly used command support systems.
- Good knowledge of the Office suite.
- Military driving licenses.
- Experience and knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' commonly used IT systems.

Type of employment: GSS (OR4).
Employment form: According to GSS agreement. A six-month probationary period applies if you are not currently working in the Swedish Armed Forces.
Employment degree: Full-time.
Work location: Strängnäs (the position involves periods of absence from the work location).
Start date: By agreement.
Salary: Individual salary setting.
The position involves travel (mainly within Sweden), recurring on-call duty, and participation in exercises, irregular working hours.

The Central Military Region (MR M) is a war unit and an organizational unit where the Chief and Staff are located in Kungsängen. The organization consists of a Chief with staff, six training groups for training and support of the home guard, and about 7000 home guard soldiers organized into eleven battalions and several independent units.
The Chief of the Central Military Region with regional staff leads subordinate units, collaborates with regional and local actors, leads security and intelligence services, and supports operational and tactical leaders who solve tasks within the region. The region also serves as a link between the Swedish Armed Forces and civil society, has active collaboration with the county administrative board and region. If necessary, MR M also leads operations, for example during national crisis situations and support to society. The military region solves tasks in peace, crisis, and war.
The organization and operational area of the Central Military Region encompass the geographical counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Södermanland, Västmanland, Dalarna, and Gävleborg. Training groups and home guards are present in each county.
