JOB DESCRIPTION
Our offer
As a school librarian with us, you will be part of a team of school librarians. Together with the public library, the team plays a key role in developing a modern and cohesive library service for children and youth throughout Eda Municipality.

Task description
As a school librarian, you are responsible for the library operations in one of our four locations, which includes preschool, preschool class, primary school, after-school care, and leisure club. There, you have a significant role in supporting children's and students' learning, language, reading, and writing development, as well as media and information literacy throughout the educational chain.
You will work according to Eda Municipality's school library plan and actively collaborate with educators, the public library, and guardians to create a modern, cohesive, and accessible library service.
The assignment includes:
- developing and implementing reading-promoting activities for all ages
- strengthening children's and students' media and information literacy (MIL)
- contributing to language and reading development in all subjects in school and within other activities in the Education Administration
- creating inspiring and inclusive library, reading, and learning environments
- coordinating collaborations and activities with the public library
- integrating the school library into teaching and leisure activities
- supporting educators in using library and digital resources
- being responsible for the daily library operations in the school and coordinating with the preschool and leisure activities' library needs
- working closely with children, students, educators, school management, and staff in after-school care and leisure clubs
- working with digital resources and strengthening children's and students' information competence and critical thinking skills
- implementing language development and reading-promoting activities in schools and preschools in collaboration with educators and the public library
- contributing to the school's and Education Administration's quality and development work
- managing library data systems, media purchases, and collection development
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualification requirements
We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or another relevant higher education, as well as experience working with children and youth of various ages, preferably in educational settings. You have good knowledge of children's and youth literature and an understanding of reading promotion work, MIL, and digital tools.
Competence requirements
We are looking for someone who is:
- structured, responsible, and independent
- engaged in children's and youth's learning from an early age
- relationship-building, collaborative, and clear in your communication
- creative, curious, and used to working ideologically driven
- confident in the role of inspirer and co-creator in children's and students' learning environments
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Employment conditions
Permanent full-time employment with start date by agreement. A criminal record check according to the Education Act is required prior to employment.
