Chef Wanted at Stensund Folk High School
Stiftelsen FrisksportgårdenSödermanlands län, Trosa
Previous experience is desired
Stensund Folk High School is looking for a chef for a full-time position.
We are seeking a creative, driven, and above all, cheerful chef for our operations. After over 45 years, one of our kitchen staff is retiring, and we are looking for her replacement.
We are a small team, and it is required that everyone does what is necessary for the operation to function. The position includes cooking, salad preparation, baking, dishwashing, and cleaning the kitchen and dining room. Working hours vary between 06:45-19:00 during the term and 07:00-20:00 during the summer, with a few weekends and late evenings occurring. The restaurant is an important and large part of the school community, and you will have close contact with the participants at the school, which requires great personal maturity and a professional approach.
The kitchen team consists of a head chef, two chefs, and a part-time dishwasher. We serve breakfast and lunch five days a week and dinner from Monday to Thursday. The school has a boarding facility with about 80 residents, and a total of 200 participants, serving approximately 50-100 breakfasts, 100-200 lunches, and 50-100 dinners. Since we have the same guests every day, there are high demands for creativity and responsiveness; our goal is to serve a balanced and varied diet. Many of the school's participants have a strong interest in health, which is reflected in our large salad bar. The school's main organization is the Swedish Frisksport Federation, which is why the school is completely alcohol-free and we serve a lot of vegetarian food to reflect the main organization's interest in vegetarian cuisine.
In the summer, we partially change character; we have a large number of summer courses with different focuses, as well as some conferences that cover the entire summer. During these weeks, there is more of everything: more snacks, more prepared meals, desserts, and good non-alcoholic beverages. Summer is an intense period, and it requires that you can pitch in when needed.
The workplace lacks public transportation, which requires that you can get to and from work by your own car.
Start date in the spring of 2026
Qualifications:
Culinary education or many years of experience in the profession
Good knowledge of Swedish
Basic computer skills
Driver's license B and access to your own car
Meritorious:
Experience in menu planning
Experience in ordering
