Deputy Head of Defense Health

About the Unit

Defense Health Karlskrona is an internal occupational health service where we provide occupational health care as well as health and medical care tailored for all employees of the garrison, as well as recruits and cadets. Our perspective is promotional, preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative. Examples of assignments include supporting units in their systematic work environment efforts, rehabilitation initiatives, assessments, training assignments, medical checks in working life, and medical preparedness. Our team of 23 employees consists of physiotherapists/ergonomists, psychologists, occupational health nurses, nurses, company doctors, work environment engineers, and medical secretaries.

Main Responsibilities

As the deputy head at Defense Health, you will, together with the unit manager, be responsible for personnel, work environment, and financial work, support and develop preventive work, coordinate and prioritize Defense Health's support to the garrison. You will develop collaborations and create good relationships and contact points within the garrison. In the role of deputy head at Defense Health, you will also be the medical operations manager, which means ensuring that operational routines as well as laws and regulations governing the operations are applied. You will keep up with developments in defense medicine and in the field of occupational health by participating in network meetings, training, and conferences.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Licensed nurse with further education in occupational and environmental medicine (Occupational Health Nurse)
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary teams
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Driver's license minimum B (manual)
  • Five years of experience within the Armed Forces with a good understanding of the operations and knowledge of our working methods

  • Experience and knowledge of occupational health care, health-promoting work environment efforts, work environment issues
  • Experience in recruitment
  • Experience in driving development work and projects
  • Role as medical operations manager in previous contexts

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority.

The Naval Base's overarching task is to support the naval units with logistics such as transport, basing, surveillance, and medical care, both at home and abroad. The Naval Base is headquartered in Karlskrona but operates where needed, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg. Other major tasks for the Naval Base include monitoring Sweden's 2700 km long coastline with territorial waters.
