Department Head for the Patient Board

Do you have experience as a manager? Do you want to take responsibility for managing, leading, and further developing an important operation? Are you also a confident leader who creates engagement and trust during change?

Then you could be Region Blekinge's new Department Head for the Patient Board.

About us

The Patient Board is an independent and impartial body consisting of a political committee that works with overarching issues and a secretariat with investigative secretaries who handle direct contact with the residents of Region Blekinge through complaint management. The board is impartial and has no disciplinary powers but works to promote contact between patients and healthcare.

The task of the Patient Board is also to ensure that residents' experiences are fed back to healthcare so that they can be taken into account and form the basis for necessary improvement and development work. The Patient Board's activities encompass all healthcare and dental care provided or financed by Region Blekinge as well as healthcare provided in the five municipalities of the county.

We are now looking for someone who wants to take responsibility for managing, leading, and further developing an important operation that works to strengthen the patient's position and rights in healthcare – and who wants to become our next department head.

About the job

As the department head of the Patient Board, you will lead the operations of the Patient Board and drive development towards set goals. The role includes responsibility for operations, finances, personnel, and work environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Establishing operational plans, action plans, budget proposals, and reports to the political committee.
  • Being the responsible official and presenter at the political committee's meetings and preparing cases together with the committee's presidium.
  • Representing the Patient Board in relevant networks.
  • Informing the public, organizations, management and personnel groups, healthcare providers, and students in relevant areas about the operations.
  • Ensuring that the assignment and operations are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Region Blekinge is on an exciting journey of change and ongoing development work. This creates both opportunities and high demands to actively contribute, take responsibility, and drive development forward. The ongoing journey of change and development work also means that the role of department head may evolve over time, for example, by encompassing additional management responsibilities or changed areas of responsibility.

About you

We are looking for someone with a relevant university degree in healthcare, leadership, administration, or another post-secondary education deemed equivalent by the employer. We prefer candidates with previous leadership and management experience from a similar role.

Experience in change management, analysis, and investigative work, as well as experience in politically governed organizations, is considered an asset.

As a person, you have a strong interest in people, and your communication skills make it easy for you to build good relationships and collaborate both internally and externally. To succeed in the role, we see that you are analytical, curious, and solution-oriented. Furthermore, it is also of great importance that you combine independence and initiative with an empathetic and attentive leadership style. Excellent Swedish language skills, both spoken and written, are required.

For your information

We will place great importance on your personal qualities, so that both you and we can enjoy working together. Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a reserve position. Some of our positions are classified for security, which means that the employee must undergo a security clearance interview and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

The position is a permanent full-time employment based in Karlskrona.
