Region Blekinge operates medical activities involving radiation at Blekingesjukhuset in Karlshamn and Karlskrona, as well as at the Public Dental Service clinics.

The healthcare system in the region has access to modern equipment, including four CT scanners, equipment for radiological intervention, conventional radiology, and three MRI machines, one of which is a 3T scanner. Hospital Physics is an independent unit and is organizationally part of the Radiology Clinic at Blekingesjukhuset. The section for hospital physics currently consists of three hospital physicists, and the immediate supervisor is the clinic's operations manager.

Responsibilities

The hospital physicists constitute the region's expertise regarding the use of radiation. The main responsibilities include medical and dental radiographic diagnostics, nuclear medicine, MRI diagnostics, and radiation protection. You will work with quality assurance, optimization, and development of examination methods, measurement and calculation of radiation doses to patients and staff, training of healthcare personnel, and participate in procurement of diagnostic equipment. This occurs in close collaboration with the clinical operations as well as doctors, nurses, and engineers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop work within radiology and MRI physics, nuclear medicine, and radiation protection. You are expected to contribute to good collaborations both within the section for hospital physics and with the entire radiology clinic and adjacent operations. Many tasks are carried out in collaboration with other hospital physicists and staff, and there may also be independent projects. You will also be involved in the procurement of new equipment.

The content of the position can be adapted to your interests and competencies. As you will work on behalf of, and in close collaboration with, the operations manager, we would like you to have the ability to take responsibility for and lead the daily operations of the hospital physics section. Assignments such as radiation physics management functions and radiation protection expert functions may be included in the responsibilities, as well as leading our radiation protection committee meetings. Depending on your experience, you may lead two hospital physicists within radiology, nuclear medicine, and MRI and also mentor colleagues and ST-physicists.

The working hours are during the day on weekdays, and your base location is at Blekingesjukhuset in Karlskrona.

About You

You should be a licensed hospital physicist. Experience in clinical work is meritorious but not required. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. It is advantageous if you have competencies that correspond to the specialist level in either radiology, nuclear medicine, or MRI. We would like you to have leadership experience or be interested in taking significant leadership responsibility. You are proactive, confident, and structured, take responsibility for your tasks, and thrive both in independent work and collaboration. You should be able to express yourself well in both speech and writing. A driver's license for a passenger car is desirable.
