About the Workplace

The Culture and Leisure Unit is responsible for ensuring a rich cultural and sports life and a diverse leisure offering in Kungsör Municipality.

The unit is responsible for libraries, exhibition halls, general culture, sports facilities, and outdoor activities.

Kungsör Library consists of a main library that is also an open library. It is a vibrant place for literature and culture and an open meeting place for all citizens. Promoting reading with a focus on children and young people is very important to us. Our library is part of the Libraries in Västmanland, a county-wide collaboration where several municipalities share catalogs, media, expertise, and visions. There is also a common web portal: bibliotekivastmanland.se.

About the Position

Working at a smaller public library means varied tasks. Together with your colleagues, you will guide visitors in the physical and digital library, and sometimes take the activities to other locations in the municipality. With a good attitude, you provide excellent service based on individual needs. You work to make the library's activities and content accessible and convey a love for reading and curiosity.

A focus of the position is to be an ambassador for the library. Your tasks include staffing the information desk, providing IT support and assistance to library users, and part of the work involves children's activities. You create, plan, and implement programs and other activities, and you are keen to use social media to reach out.

Your role also includes being a reading ambassador and spreading the joy of reading and writing. You promote reading and literature among various target groups. You organize and lead book clubs, reading circles, and other literary events and collaborate with schools and other organizations to increase interest in reading. You are professional in your role by showing respect for your assignment and working according to Kungsör Municipality's vision keywords: "openness - creativity - proximity" and according to the cultural and leisure political program's keywords: "openness, participation, and cooperation". Through co-creation, you develop the library's activities together with colleagues, associations, study associations, and residents of Kungsör Municipality.

Evening and weekend work is included.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or other education and experience that the employer deems equivalent. Since many social contacts are involved in the work, you must be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Experience working in public libraries is an advantage, as is training as a shared reading leader or similar. We also appreciate experience with diversity issues, program activities, working according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, or working with social media.

About Kungsör

Kungsör is a calm and safe municipality with nearly 8,700 inhabitants. Kungsör is characterized by a royal history and a uniquely beautiful nature. Central Kungsör is situated high, and the buildings extend down towards Lake Mälaren. In the countryside, there is another locality, Valskog.
