Job Advertisement: Section Chief for Cyber Defense Unit

The Cyber Defense Unit (1.CFF) is part of the Armed Forces' capability for armed combat in the cyber domain. We defend the Armed Forces' command support systems through both proactive reconnaissance activities and reactive management of IT security incidents. Our sophisticated adversaries have significant resources and high competence, which places high demands on us to protect the systems. As the unit's operations involve handling real missions, you will be an important player in defending Sweden and strengthening our overall capability within the cyber domain.

We are currently looking for a Section Chief

We are currently seeking a section chief for our intelligence and security section in the staff with experience in intelligence services and an interest in information technology, as well as a desire to serve at the forefront of the Armed Forces' technical capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

As the section chief for S2, you will be involved in developing and shaping the entire section. You will be part of the staff's management group along with other section chiefs. As the unit as a whole is under development, this means that in your role as section chief S2, you will play an important role in contributing wise thoughts and new perspectives to the operations. In addition to developing the section itself, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with planning, leading, and producing intelligence within the framework of cyber defense.
  • Leading the section and intelligence work
  • Planning and following up on the unit's operations together with operations leaders

Qualifications

  • Professional officer examination
  • Professional experience in intelligence and security services within the Armed Forces.
  • Intelligence training equivalent to Grunder Und (FMUndSäkC)
  • Experience in personnel and operational responsibility
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form

Desirable Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience in IT security, data communication, information or management systems.
  • An understanding of data systems and networks as well as a technical interest.
  • Experience in staff work at least at the tactical level.
  • Experience in intelligence leadership.

As a person, you should be responsible and take ownership of your own tasks as you will shape your own work. Furthermore, we see that you are used to taking your own initiatives. In this context, you have good qualities to both structure and organize your work, contributing to good opportunities for prioritization. Great emphasis will be placed on personal attributes.

Other Requirements

You should not disclose that you have applied for a position at 1.Cyber Defense Unit to anyone other than those directly involved. The reason we ask you to be discreet with this information is that there are positions within the unit that are subject to confidentiality.

For employment with the Armed Forces, Swedish citizenship is required. Employment entails national and international duty to serve. The position has combatant status, which means you must be able to handle and use weapons. This training will be provided by us.

A security clearance with a background check will be conducted prior to employment. The selection process will be complemented by psychological tests.

Employment Type

Permanent employment, a 6-month probationary period applies for those who are currently not employed by the Armed Forces.
