Your Responsibilities

The position involves a shared role between working as a full-time mentor and teaching assistant with a distribution of approximately 50-50.

The work as a student mentor involves supporting students during the school day by meeting and structuring their everyday life, being available in various situations, resolving conflicts, and similar tasks. Attend individual lessons periodically to support the student in their education, collaborate with other groups in the school that work with one-on-one teaching. Manage contacts with guardians and, if necessary, other community actors. Collaborate with special teachers and special educators regarding lesson situations and adaptations for the student. Coach and focus on short- and long-term goals. Establish action plans and participate in the safety team. The responsibility for the student mentor encompasses approximately 5-10 students.

In the role of teaching assistant/full-time substitute, you will assist teachers in instruction and substitute for regular staff during their absence, primarily teachers but also other staff. You will conduct lessons in all subjects based on already established subject instructions, as well as lessons where you will be responsible for the setup.

Elsa Brändström School 7-9 is centrally located, and we have about 60 employees; the school has six classes in each grade and consists of approximately 450 students. You Who Are Applying

You have at least a degree as a leisure educator or another pedagogical education; it is an advantage if you have teacher training. Work experience in similar tasks as a student mentor and familiarity with digital systems aimed at schools: Google Workspace, Unikum, Unikum support modules, and Skola 24, is also advantageous.

Teaching is conducted according to the curriculum (Lgr22) and is organized and carried out so that the student receives support in their language and communication development and that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way. Therefore, it is a requirement that the candidate has good communicative skills in spoken and written Swedish.

We encourage you to use alternative strategies (tools) together with students in need of special support to promote their learning. You are willing to try and develop varied working methods and are happy to share your knowledge and experiences with colleagues.

You create safety by being accessible, consistent, and a clear boundary setter. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills and are secure in yourself. You are structured and engaged in motivating and challenging each student in their development and learning. You are attentive, positive, and responsible towards everyone you meet in your work.
