At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon emissions and replace cars.

We are looking for an ambitious Engineering Manager for our depot in Luleå.

Your future role

In this role, you will manage the engineering operations of Alstom's contracts regarding maintenance and technical support in Northern Sweden. The customers are SJ, VR, and LKAB, and the contracts pertain to the maintenance of the Swedish Transport Administration's Night Trains and locomotives, Norrtåg regional trains consisting of vehicles such as Coradia X62, Regina X52, and ASEA X11, as well as material supply and technical support for IORE locomotives. Maintenance is primarily carried out in two depots located in Luleå and Umeå.

You will act as technical expertise to both internal and external stakeholders to streamline and further develop Alstom's engineering operations within the current region. Together with the engineers for each fleet, you will work on assigned sub-projects and areas of responsibility within the projects. You are expected, based on the collected experience, to propose improvements and modifications to the vehicles and contribute to continuous development specifically regarding availability, reliability, and improved maintenance methods. You and the team will work together with Alstom's Maintenance Performance Center, where we gather improvement activities and knowledge about fleets of the same type in Fleet performance teams (e.g., Coradia, Regina).

You will report to Alstom's RSM Engineering Manager Nordics and the Project Manager for each project and will play a central role in the project's management team.

You will also:

  • Be responsible for the engineering team of an additional 3-4 people
  • Be operational in project activities
  • Manage and maintain the technical definition and configuration of the vehicles
  • Ensure that the vehicles are maintained with railway safety in focus and keep the maintenance documentation for the project updated.
  • Be the owner of the technical work package for the project, meet QCD goals, and manage associated risks
  • Ensure that the product safety policy is implemented
  • Manage the technical performance of the fleets during maintenance and operation (such as availability, reliability, maintainability) and provide feedback to the relevant vehicle platform.
  • Define the maintenance technical plan and organize the relevant team
  • Act as technical expertise to the customer when needed
  • Manage technical deviations, initiate incident analysis reports, and root cause analyses
  • Ensure work is conducted in accordance with standardized change processes

Who are you?

To succeed as a troubleshooter, you need to have strong technical competence and an eye for detail. You should be structured, able to work according to clear processes, and enjoy working towards deadlines to ensure that the trains run on time. Furthermore, it is important that you are analytical, enjoy troubleshooting, and finding solutions to problems. Accuracy and a sense of responsibility are crucial, as your work directly impacts passenger safety and health. Finally, good communication and collaboration skills are important, as you will work closely with other troubleshooters, service technicians, and staff at our depots.

To succeed in the role:

We value passion and attitude over experience. That is why we do not expect you to have all the skills. Instead, we have listed some that we believe will help you succeed and grow in this role:
