Your Role

SDATS is looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, works well under stress, and desires a job where no two days are alike.

As an air traffic controller at SAAB, you are a crucial part of the complex puzzle known as aviation. You are responsible for ensuring that aircraft land and take off safely, and that everything runs smoothly in the air. You are also part of the collaboration with the airport staff on the ground.

A day as an air traffic controller might look like this:

  • Morning: You start your day with a briefing, where you receive information about weather, traffic, and any disturbances. Then you take your place in the control tower and begin directing aircraft in and out of the airport.
  • Day: You communicate with pilots via radio, provide instructions on altitude, course, and speed, and ensure that all aircraft maintain a safe distance from each other. As an air traffic controller, you play an important role in ensuring this happens efficiently and environmentally.
  • Afternoon: You continue to manage traffic, but may also have the opportunity to practice new scenarios in a simulator. You work closely with your colleagues to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic. Communication and teamwork are highly valued traits.

The great thing about being an air traffic controller at Saab is that you have a unique skill set that is valuable in many other parts of the company. Examples of development opportunities include: Test Pilot/Air Test, Simulation Instructor, Technical Support within Aircraft Systems, or Product Development within Air Traffic Management Systems.

Your Profile

To become one of our future air traffic controllers, you need to:

  • Have a high school diploma with at least passing grades in Mathematics A/1, Swedish A/1, and English A/5.
  • Be in good physical and mental health.
  • Have normal vision according to the Transport Agency's requirements.
  • Have normal color vision and hearing.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, involve requirements for certain citizenship.

Apply for the Training

If you meet our basic requirements, you will receive an email invitation to the selection test. If we need to limit the number of test places, we will invite those who applied first, so do not wait to apply. We will conduct tests in Stockholm during week 36 (the so-called FEAST tests). The tests will be conducted in a computer lab with about 10-20 participants. The personal interviews will take place in the fall at RTC Sundsvall. The training is planned to start in late autumn 2025 or in February 2026.

Please attach your high school diploma, CV, and cover letter to your application.
