International English School (IES) is a leading independent school group with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. Teaching is in both Swedish and English, and the hallways are bilingual. The language of meetings and communication amongst the staff is English.
IES is one of Sweden's largest school groups at compulsory school level with 48 schools and around 32,000 students across the country. IES has grown steadily and maintained quality since 1993.
School Librarian at 80%
International English School (IES) Johanneberg is a grades 6-9 school with approximately 560 students and 60 staff members. IES Johanneberg is a school where teachers can focus on teaching, students are given the opportunity to learn, and everyone enjoys coming to school every day. The school has an international focus and teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish. The school works to ensure that learning and knowledge are prioritized. Students learn to take personal responsibility for their own development and work environment, and to respect their classmates, teachers, and themselves.
IES Johanneberg is now looking for a school librarian who wants to work with a focus on the educational mission. The position is a part-time employment (80%) starting in the school year 25/26. This primarily involves work with reading and reading promotion, language development, media and information literacy. The assignment also entails sustainably, systematically, and in line with research and the school's governing documents, shifting the perception of the school library from a physical place to being the concern of the entire school and a tool in the systematic quality work to increase students' goal achievement.

You are very comfortable interacting with students of all ages and enjoy teaching groups or classes on your own. To succeed in your role, you need to be able to take initiative and, depending on the needs and situation, work independently or together with others. Who are you?
- You are studying or have a degree in library and information science or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a school librarian in primary school is an advantage.
- You have good knowledge of literature and information retrieval, GDPR, and privacy when handling user data.
- You understand the school curriculum and how the library can support students' learning.
- You express yourself well in both spoken and written English and Swedish and have high digital competence.
- You also have good pedagogical skills with an understanding of how students absorb knowledge and their different conditions.
