Teaching Assistant for Student with Medical Needs
Make a difference in the daily life of a student with medical needs requiring a teaching assistant.
IES Eskilstuna is looking for a dedicated and supportive teaching assistant who wants to make a difference in a young student's school experience. In the role of teaching assistant, your primary responsibility will be to work with an individual student in grades 1-3 with care needs. The role involves being a close support for the student during the school day, focusing on ensuring a safe and functioning daily life both in the classroom and during breaks.
Responsibilities
- Support the student in schoolwork and adapt activities as needed
- Be a safe and present support during the school day
- Monitor the student's medical needs and energy levels to help them cope throughout the day
- Collaborate closely with teachers, guardians, and medical staff to ensure a safe and stimulating school environment
- Act as support for other students as needed
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with experience working with children in elementary school. You have completed a secondary care education or have equivalent experience. Previous experience with the above responsibilities is an advantage. You are attentive, flexible, and have good collaborative skills, and you easily build good relationships and cooperate with students, guardians, teams, the school's health team, and school management.
You are driven by a desire to see opportunities for improvements for both the student and your colleagues as well as for your own work. You have the ability to quickly adapt to new or changing demands and conditions. Working together with others in a cohesive and open work climate is something you appreciate and value.
We also believe that you:
- Have experience working with children in need of special support and with medical needs
- Are calm, patient, and attentive
- Have the ability to create security and foresee situations that may affect the child's well-being
- Preferably have training as a teaching assistant, nursing assistant, or other relevant background
- Have knowledge or willingness to learn more about heart diseases and their impact on children
