Project Leader for Introduction to Computers

The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels.

We are currently the third largest department at Uppsala University, with over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. The Department of Information Technology is now seeking a teaching assistant in the role of project leader.

Job Responsibilities

Participation in teaching within the framework of Introduction to Computers, which is part of several programs' introductory courses in the autumn of 2024. Participation in teaching includes, for example, supervision in computer labs, answering students' questions, and grading assignments.   • The project leader for Introduction to Computers will be employed for 60 hours.
  • The work will be distributed over the period from August 2025 to July 2026, with a focus on planning and implementation during the period from August 2025 to October 2025. From October 2025 to July 2026, the work will consist of grading late submissions in connection with re-examination weeks.

Qualifications

To be employed as a teaching assistant, it is required that you are admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education. Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. The applicant must demonstrate good academic results, particularly in the area of the course they will assist with, as well as very good knowledge of Swedish (only for courses taught in Swedish) and English in both spoken and written forms.

Desirable/meritorious qualifications

Previous experience in participating in teaching relevant courses at the university level is particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable, as well as a good understanding of Uppsala University's organization. Strongly meritorious is personal experience as a supervisor in Introduction to Computers.

Particularly meritorious is:

  • the ability to plan, lead, and follow up on others' work.
  • being good at structuring and organizing information.
  • having good computer skills.
  • being driven by a desire to improve.
  • having good communication skills in Swedish in both spoken and written forms.
  • the ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Application Procedure

The application should include a letter stating which campus you are studying at (Uppsala or Gotland), the applicant's previous teaching experience, language skills, and knowledge (e.g., study certificates). The application should also indicate how the applicant meets the qualification profile for the project leader. A registration certificate should also be attached to the application.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary until July 31, 2026, according to HF Chapter 5 § 12. The extent is 3%. Start date is August 1, 2025, or as agreed. Place of employment: Uppsala.
