Environmental Officer at the City Environment Administration
The City Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility. We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.
The City Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you want to help develop attractive, safe, and sustainable urban environments and natural areas in Gothenburg? We are currently looking for two environmental officers: one permanent position and one temporary position until February 2026. The City Environment Administration plays an active role in the development of sustainable Gothenburg, and the environmental unit is an important part of that work.
As an environmental officer, you will support the office's operational and investment projects, ensuring that the administration complies with the requirements of the Environmental Code and meets the city's established goals in environmental and climate matters. The position also involves certain development and environmental strategic tasks. We work together to ensure that Gothenburg remains an environmentally sound city during the extensive infrastructure construction period we are facing. In our work, we connect environmental issues in our construction projects with strategic environmental questions.
The position is located in the environmental unit, where we are a group of 13 dedicated employees working together to support projects and operations in the administration. The unit consists of planning leaders, administrative controllers, environmental officers, and environmental strategists.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree related to the field
- Good knowledge of developments in the environmental field
- Good knowledge of environmental legislation
- Strong language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
Experience in the environmental field with a focus on contracting and construction activities is an advantage. We also consider it an advantage if you have experience with environmental issues related to any of the following areas: construction materials, climate calculations, stormwater management and water activities, noise and vibrations, or nature value issues. A B driver's license is required for the position.
To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who takes initiative and has a strong commitment and enthusiasm for their work. You communicate information and ideas clearly and ensure that your message gets across. Within the unit, we work together in a group on environmental issues, but you should also have the ability to work independently. We are looking for someone motivated to learn new things and develop. You actively monitor developments in your professional field and regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your work.
Welcome with your application!
