Your tasks

Linköping should be a cohesive municipality with good opportunities to live and thrive in all parts of it. There should be access to housing, proximity to services, and good conditions for entrepreneurship. The Sustainability Unit works to integrate the gender equality perspective through the development of strategic documents based on the municipality's gender equality report.

As a student assistant, you are offered an opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practice and gain valuable work experience. You will have a personal supervisor during your time as a student assistant, and together we will establish a plan based on your circumstances that does not hinder your studies.

At the Sustainability Unit, you will participate in the work of integrating the gender equality perspective into the municipality's operations. Based on the municipality's gender equality report, you will contribute to identifying causes of inequality and potential solutions. You will be part of a team that plans the work, but you will also independently conduct gender equality analyses in collaboration with relevant administrations. The work involves independently driving the work forward based on statistical data or conducting environmental monitoring, surveys, and interviews with support and guidance. The work also requires maintaining contacts with various functions within the municipality.

Your workplace

The Sustainability Unit is part of the Municipal Executive Office and coordinates the municipality's sustainability work in collaboration with the various administrations. Among the areas of responsibility are gender equality, children's rights, human rights, public health, segregation, climate, and energy. As a student assistant, you will be based at the City Hall in Linköping.

The unit consists of a total of eight strategists distributed within social sustainability and ecological sustainability, led and working together with the unit manager. The workgroup is responsible for coordinating municipal-wide processes related to sustainability issues, driving projects, and providing support to administrations and municipal companies.

Who we are looking for

Linköping Municipality collaborates with other municipalities and several municipal companies in the region regarding student assistants. The concept is an agreement between all municipalities and Linköping University. To be employed as a student assistant, you must be starting your final year of a bachelor's, master's, or equivalent degree.

We are looking for one to two student assistants who will start their final year in the autumn of 2025 in a bachelor's, master's, or equivalent degree in social sciences or other education deemed equivalent by the employer. For example, gender studies, political science, sociology, statistics and data analysis, or social and cultural analysis.

We consider it an advantage if you have experience in analytical work, gender equality analysis, coordinating processes, and compiling reports and summaries. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge in gender studies, gender equality issues, and quantitative and/or qualitative analysis methods. Furthermore, it is required that you have proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, as you will be reading large amounts of information and writing your own documents in Swedish and participating in meetings.

As a person, you work well with complex issues, analyze, break down, and solve complicated problems. You have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively against set deadlines. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive your own processes forward, ensuring that the projects you are involved in are completed and that results are achieved. Additionally, you take initiative, start activities, and achieve results. As a person, you have an understanding and ability to consider how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others in decision-making or actions. You are outgoing and socially active.
