As a meal assistant, you will be part of a meal operation with teams in all preschool and school kitchens. The operation consists of 15 production kitchens and approximately 40 employees. In Hallstahammar Municipality, we aim to prepare food from scratch and use as few ready-made and semi-finished products as possible. The food is planned and prepared by chefs and kitchen assistants on-site in the respective kitchens of the preschools and schools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of meal assistant at the Meal Unit, you will work closely with the responsible chef in the unit. The chef has the main responsibility for the preparation. You will assist with various preparation tasks such as salad preparation, inventory picking, cleaning, dishwashing, and other duties. You will assist the chef in various cooking tasks, and in the chef's absence, you will be responsible for the preparation, planning, and execution of the operation.

You will also be an important cog in collaboration with the preschool educators. Together, you will create a calm and safe environment for the children and give them the opportunity to eat their meals in a good dining environment that contributes to the best conditions for learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a basic kitchen education, and chef training is an advantage. You have previous experience working in large kitchens or in the restaurant industry. You also have good knowledge of economics, relevant food legislation, special diets, and computer skills. We see that you have a strong interest in meal pedagogy, equality, and sustainability issues.

You are service-oriented and have a strong focus on children, and you see the importance of collaborating with colleagues and educators. You are flexible and solution-oriented to meet daily challenges.
