Research Leader at the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS)
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. With us at SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
At the headquarters in Solna Business Park, we are about 350 employees, and together we work to support and develop the authority with approximately 4000 employees.
Job Description
Are you attracted to contribute to a socially important mission by developing evidence-based care and treatment for children, youth, and adults within state compulsory care? Do you have several years of research experience in your field and are accustomed to coordinating development work in project form? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
SiS is undergoing extensive development where several areas of operation are changing simultaneously. We are developing and adapting our work based on new and changing needs - both in society and within our own organization. Knowledgeable and engaged employees are crucial to meet today’s and tomorrow’s assignments.
The Research and Evaluation Section is tasked with financing external research and contributing to the development of evidence-based care and treatment. SiS is facing a transformation where we want to broaden and deepen collaboration with the research community to increase the scope and quality of practice-oriented research. As a research leader at SiS, you will participate in the work of developing and managing the authority's strategic work in research and evaluation, designing operational processes for planning, implementation, and follow-up, as well as providing support to the organization in these matters.
Knowledge development within SiS is based on the needs of target groups, the experiences of the operations, and current societal challenges. As a research leader, you need to be interested in and follow the operational activities as well as current research in the field. You will be responsible for the preparation and follow-up of SiS's external and internal research activities and for disseminating the results within and outside the authority. As a research leader, you will also participate in the implementation of internal research projects that support SiS's knowledge development.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a doctoral degree in a field deemed appropriate by SiS
- several years of research experience in your subject area
- good generalist competence in scientific methods and research design
- experience in coordinating tasks, roles, and competencies in project format
- good knowledge of Swedish and English and can express yourself well in both spoken and written form
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience in the authority's areas of responsibility
- experience in public administration
The work as a research leader within SiS is dynamic, and you need to be analytical, meticulous, and accustomed to independent work where you create your own structure. Furthermore, we see that you have good collaboration skills and a very good communicative ability. We also see that you have good pedagogical skills and a solid connection to the research community. However, the most important prerequisites for taking on and thriving in the role of research leader are that you want to make a difference for the target group and that you possess the willingness, ability to collaborate, humility, and curiosity.
At SiS, we care about good employee engagement. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee engagement.
