Description
The Campus Service Department is part of Karlstad University's central administration and is tasked with creating a pleasant and functional environment for both students and staff, with service as a guiding principle.
The department is organized into three units and is responsible for issues related to strategic and operational premises supply, premises security, printing services, cleaning, maintenance, exam coordination, and the university's welcome center.
We now want to complement the department with a campus coordinator who will play a central role in planning to ensure that our premises and related services are appropriate, efficient, and welcoming. The campus coordinator is organizationally placed directly under the head of the campus service department, and we are looking for someone who, with their analytical and solution-oriented abilities, can contribute to the development of our campus, particularly in the real estate area. Your ability to quickly understand new issues combined with your experience in developing operations will provide you with a good foundation for success in this role.
Responsibilities
The tasks for this position are not predetermined, which means you will have the opportunity to actively influence the content based on your personal skills and strengths. The focus will be on areas closely related to the functionality and appropriateness of the campus area regarding both premises and outdoor environments, often with economic aspects involved.
Examples of areas of work that may become relevant include:
- Assessment of financing options and evaluating the conditions for various types of real estate projects.
- Handling of terms and tasks related to lease agreements for premises and student housing, e.g., in collaboration with real estate companies.
- Monitoring of space usage to improve efficiency in space utilization, facilitate space management, and create associated governing documents.
- Participation in procurements within the real estate area.
- Developing proposals for new guidelines to ensure compliance with new legal requirements placed on the operations.
- Strategic premises supply.
To promote a positive work environment and contribute to the development of the operations, you are present and actively participate in the daily work and community at the workplace.
Qualifications
Qualified for employment as a campus coordinator is someone who has a degree focused on relevant areas, such as economics or real estate development. Alternatively, someone who has otherwise acquired equivalent experience relevant to the position.
To succeed in the assignment, you need to be solution-focused, self-driven, and analytical, and have a good ability to adapt to changing conditions and needs. Experiences that provide the prerequisites for handling the tasks include:
- Practical experience in real estate and business development or similar areas.
- Ability to work strategically and long-term, especially regarding the development of premises and properties.
- Experience with budget and contract issues, preferably within the real estate industry.
- Experience collaborating with external actors such as real estate companies, suppliers, and authorities.
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, to ensure effective communication with internal and external parties.
To fit into the role and contribute to the team, the following personal qualities are valuable:
- Solution-oriented with an analytical and systematic approach.
- Very good collaboration skills.
- Good ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A strong commitment to creating sustainable and user-friendly work environments.
- Education in property economics is an advantage.
Conditions
The position is full-time with a starting date according to agreement. A probationary period may apply.
