The role of a mother tongue teacher with us

Regardless of age, a rich and varied language is significant for understanding and participating in a society where cultures, worldviews, generations, and languages meet. We now need to expand our operations with more skilled mother tongue teachers who enjoy working with people and pedagogy.

This position includes mother tongue instruction in Romani Chib. As a mother tongue teacher, you will plan, implement, and follow up on the instruction in the subject of mother tongue based on the curriculum of compulsory school. Your assignment includes assessing and grading the student's knowledge. The position may also include study guidance. This means that you provide support to a multilingual student in their studies and act as a language bridge between the school, the student, and the home. You will plan, implement, evaluate, and develop the pedagogical work both independently and together with teachers at the school. You may also support newly arrived children and their guardians in preschool to help them understand and adapt to preschool routines.

In central Kungsbacka, we have our unit for Multilingual Learning, where there are work and meeting places for all our mother tongue teachers. You will receive support from our lead teachers and ICT pedagogues. As a mother tongue teacher in Kungsbacka, you can work throughout the municipality, from Frillesås in the south to Kullavik in the north.

Your profile

To succeed and thrive in the role, you need to be responsible and structured, communicative, and able to collaborate easily with colleagues. You have great personal maturity, are attentive, and can maintain a professional demeanor towards students, guardians, and colleagues. You enjoy acquiring new knowledge and sharing your own. You have the courage to seek the information you need and to take your own initiatives. Personal suitability is of great importance.

We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher with a Swedish teaching license. We assume that you have Romani Chib as your mother tongue and can speak, read, and write your mother tongue fluently. It is an advantage if you also have good knowledge of another language. In addition, you also master the Swedish language in speech and writing. To fulfill the assignment, it is important that you have knowledge of the Swedish school system and our governing documents. Good computer skills are required, and a B driver's license is desirable.

The unit for Multilingual Learning currently has 65 mother tongue teachers in over 35 different languages. Our operations encompass about 1000 children and students from preschool to high school.

In our unit, we work with several areas of operation to provide support to children and students of all ages. Throughout the school year, we use collegial learning to spread our knowledge.
