Are you passionate about women's rights and want to work towards a society free from violence? As a women's peace advisor at Uppsala Women's Shelter, you will support women who have experienced some form of violence.
The support provided by the women's peace advisor primarily consists of support conversations with women who have experienced violence, as well as practical support and accompaniment in contact with, for example, healthcare or authorities. The position also includes certain administrative tasks. Working hours are mainly during office hours, but work on weekends and evenings may occur.
About Uppsala Women's Shelter
Uppsala Women's Shelter is a non-profit feminist organization that has been providing support and protection to women, girls, and children who have experienced some form of violence since 1981. We offer support conversations, practical support, sheltered accommodation, legal advice, and legal representation, as well as lectures and training on men's violence against women and violence in close relationships.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the women's peace advisor position is an engaged feminist who is passionate about women's rights and stopping men's violence against women. You also have:
- Relevant post-secondary education such as Social Work, Behavioral Science, or similar.
- Good knowledge of men's violence against women and violence in close relationships.
- Experience working with women who have experienced some form of violence.
It is highly meritorious if you have
- Experience working or volunteering in non-profit organizations.
- Experience working in government agencies.
- Experience with support conversations with children.
- Speak another language besides Swedish and English.
Main responsibilities
- Support conversations with women seeking help who have experienced violence and their relatives via visits, phone calls, or video calls.
- Regular contact with women seeking help and their relatives via phone and email.
- Accompaniment support for women experiencing violence in contacts with healthcare, authorities, courts, and others.
- Answer calls from women seeking help on the helpline during certain weekdays.
- Keep statistics on contact with women seeking help.
- Other administrative tasks.
